Prints

The photographs displayed here are all original works by the author.
Most are originally black and white images, having the color added by the quadtones method, and printed as color images.
The printing method is inkjet, commonly called by the french name, giclee. All are printed with the with highest quality mater-ials, with an Epson R1800 printer, on museum quality papers, with Epson Ultrachrome pigment based inks, for maximum quality and longevity. This differs from the photo-lithography process, which makes a copy of the original and then prints multiple copies of that copy. Each giclee print is made directly from the original digital file.

About me

Formerly an abstract expressionist painter, I moved to Portland, Maine in January of 2000 to pursue seascape painting.
I use photography mostly as a tool to bring images back to the studio for painting. I work primarily with black and white film and add color to the images for either atmospheric or psychological effect. In essence, i am a colorist in my approach to painting. I eihter scan or have scanned my negatives and use computer programs to work out color relationships. The prints offered for sale here are images created during this process. I will be offering paintings of Maine (and Arizona) for sale here in the near future.
